Wellroot’s second annual Milestones luncheon celebrated our first Healthy Families program graduates. Staff celebrated the accomplishments of dedicated parents and their babies and honored six remarkable moms graduating from the program with certificates of achievement. It was a day filled with gratitude and joy and a time to reflect on the transformative impact of family-centered support.
Wellroot’s Maternal and Infant Support includes a home visitation program for expectant and new parents that leverages curriculum and resources from Healthy Families America®. Our Family Support Specialists meet with families in their homes and work with them to cultivate and strengthen parent-child relationships, promote healthy childhood growth and development, and enhance family functioning for up to three years.
Since the program’s launch in August 2021, Wellroot has served over 140 mothers across Hall and Gwinnett counties and expanded into Forsyth, Dawson, and Lumpkin counties shortly after. Due to the success of program participants, we are serving Dekalb and Fulton counties and will start accepting referrals for expectant and new parents by the end of 2024.
Through baby shower-inspired activities, heartfelt speeches, and special gifts for our moms and their children, the Milestones luncheon became a powerful moment of reflection on the past three years. Wellroot shares a sense of pride and joy as we witness these parents thrive, empowered by the guidance of their support specialists.
The collective effort it takes to create real, lasting change in the lives of under-resourced families would not be possible without community. Healthy Families is a vital program for new moms, providing essential support through home visits, parenting education, health screenings, and resource connections to ensure the well-being and development of both the mother and child. Wellroot looks forward to many more milestones as the families we walk alongside continue to grow, thrive, and build brighter futures.
