This year, supporting young adults transitioning out of foster care is easier than ever—Georgia taxpayers can now apply for the Fostering Success Tax Credit directly through Wellroot. By simply filling out a short form, Wellroot can handle the application process on your behalf, making it even more convenient to redirect your state taxes and create lasting impact. The tax credit provides critical funding for youth in our Transitional and Independent Living Programs—programs that helped Anwar, Jayanna and Alana turn uncertainty into stability and hope. Their stories below show what your support makes possible.

Anwar entered care at 16 after losing his father and brother in the same year to tragic events. After time in a group home, he came to Wellroot’s Transitional Living Program, where he found support and belonging. “This is the first place I’ve been where everyone feels equal,” he shared.
Anwar embraced the opportunity to grow. He earned a forklift certification through Wellroot’s training program, expanding his job opportunities, and is now enrolled at Georgia Piedmont Technical College. He enjoys cooking, especially scrambled eggs, and playing basketball with his roommate after class. “Wellroot is different,” Anwar said. “Everyone really cares about us.”

Jayanna also turned to Wellroot after transitioning out of foster care. With consistency and guidance, she secured employment and saved over $2,000, two key steps in her transition to the Independent Living Program (ILP). Now living independently, she’s studying cosmetology at Georgia Piedmont Technical College. Her dedication and discipline are helping her build a future in a field she’s passionate about.
Alana joined Wellroot in May and quickly demonstrated her commitment to growth. Within her first month, she found employment and began saving through her Wellroot account. She also enrolled at Georgia Piedmont Technical College to pursue a degree in automotive technology. After meeting the requirements for ILP, she moved into an apartment in DeKalb County and recently began working at Take 5 Oil Change.

These success stories are a direct result of what happens when Georgia taxpayers step in through the Fostering Success Tax Credit. By redirecting your state tax dollars—at no additional cost—you help provide stable housing, educational support and life skills training for youth transitioning out of foster care.
