Georgia Lt. Governor Duncan appoints new Wellroot CEO, Allison Ashe, to the Safe Harbor for Sexually Exploited Children Fund (“the Fund”). The Fund seeks to protect child victims of sex trafficking by providing safe housing, trauma counseling, and medical treatment.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

December 4, 2020

Atlanta, Ga. – Wellroot’s new President and CEO, Allison Ashe, has been appointed to the Safe Harbor for Sexually Exploited Children Fund (“the Fund”) by Lt. Governor Geoff Duncan. Ashe will be replacing former CEO, Rev. Hal Jones. She has spent over a decade working with Georgia’s most vulnerable children, previously having worked for Covenant House International.

Approved by voters in 2016, the Fund is used solely for the purposes of providing restorative services to child victims of sex trafficking. The funds come from two sources: additional penalties on convicted sex traffickers and a new fee on the adult entertainment industry. It is estimated that the Safe Harbor Fund provides as much as $2 million annually in funding dedicated to providing restorative services and support to the child victims of sex trafficking who are able to escape truly horrific circumstances and abuse.

Funds are distributed by an appointed commission directly to the agencies, faith-based organizations, and non-profits who provide the safe housing, trauma counseling,  medical treatment, and other resources these children desperately need.
