Prayer Guide

This prayer guide supports your Amazing Grace Offering preparations and uplifts the needs of vulnerable children, youth, and families. Use it in intercessory prayers, worship services, Bible studies, prayer ministry, and on social media to promote Wellroot’s ministry.

Pray for Children

  • who are hungry or hurting
  • with behavioral and mental health challenges
  • as nearly 11,000 children and youth in Georgia’s foster care system have experienced abuse or neglect

God of Comfort, we lift these children up to you. Give them peace in their hearts and safety in their homes. Wrap your loving arms around them and let them know the love of your Holy Spirit. Empower Wellroot Family Services to welcome them, to serve them well, and to share your unending love. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.

Pray for Parents

  • who are learning how to care for their children in healthy ways
  • who are separated from their children due to abuse or neglect
  • who provide respite for children when they are separated from their families
  • who have a heart for children and may be feeling a call to “Say Yes” to becoming a foster parent

God of Mercy, we pray for all parents, regardless of their circumstances. You are the ultimate healer of trauma and pain. Move among these parents so that they may find new ways to care for their children. Open their hearts to seek wholeness and healing. Open the hearts of Christians to “Say Yes” to being of service to these families who are so beloved to you. Continue to strengthen the family preservation programs of Wellroot Family Services that they be a beacon of hope for all families who need support. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.

Pray for Teens & Young Adults

  • who are in foster care or in group home settings
  • in foster care who are close to their 18th birthday and are not sure what their next steps will be
  • who choose to stay in foster care until their 21st birthday
  • in Wellroot’s Transitional and Independent Living Programs

God of New Beginnings, we pray for all youth and young adults who are uncertain of their future. We trust in your ability to “make a way out of no way.” Help these young people feel your presence and know that they are your beloved children. Surround them with caring adults who listen without judgment and guide with wisdom. Send your Spirit among the staff at Wellroot that they may see the possibilities you have given each young person they encounter. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.

Pray for Staff & Volunteers

  • in child welfare organizations, public and private
  • who are administrators who guide the work
  • who are government officials who make policies related to child and family support
  • for lawyers who seek the best interests of the children in foster care
  • social workers, and administrators at Wellroot Family Services

God of Grace, we pray for all those whose work and volunteerism engages with the child welfare system. Grant them eyes of compassion when engaging with families who are in crisis. Give them discerning minds to seek the best outcomes for the children, youth, and families they encounter. Multiply the resources – human and financial – at their disposal to meet the needs of the families they serve. Give them rest and renewal to continue to show up each and every day for families when they need them the most. We pray especially for the social workers, staff, and administrators at Wellroot Family Services. Warm their hearts and renew their spirits to be the hands and feet of Jesus today and every day. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen
