Wellroot Celebrates Holiday Traditions and a Fresh Harvest for Families this Christmas

At Wellroot Family Services, Christmas is our favorite time of year. Not only is this the season when we celebrate the love God bestowed on us through the gift of baby Jesus, it’s also a time when we come together with our churches, donors, and community partners to bring the joy and magic of Christmas to hundreds of children and their families.

This year’s Christmas celebration was especially meaningful as we welcomed new partners, introduced new opportunities (including fresh fruits and vegetables!), and continued the traditions that make this event such a special moment for the families in our care. 

For the first time, Embry Hills United Methodist Church hosted our Atlanta-area Christmas event, welcoming families from across the metro area with warmth and hospitality. In Gainesville, St. Paul United Methodist Church once again opened its doors and hearts to host our North Georgia families. Across both locations, we celebrated Christmas with more than 450 attendees! 

A highlight of this year’s event was a new pop-up farmers market, made possible by a generous donor. Families at both locations were able to take home more than 2,000 pounds of fresh produce, ensuring their holidays included not only gifts and joy, but also healthy food for their tables.

However, we could not have done this without our loyal Christmas elves. This year nearly 200 volunteers came together to make Christmas possible. Not only did we have generous friends donating Big Wishes, but we also had friends and corporate partners packing gifts, greeting families, loading cars, serving hot cocoa and cookies, and spreading Christmas cheer. With their help, every child received gifts from their wish list, and every family left with a sense of belonging, support, and hope.
