Wellroot Celebrates Third Annual Healthy Families Milestones Luncheon

Wellroot Family Services hosted its third annual Milestones Luncheon, honoring the 2025 Healthy Families program graduates, parents, and their babies who received maternal and infant support. Wellroot president and CEO Allison Ashe, alongside each family’s support specialist, recognized 31 dedicated parents and their babies and presented certificates of achievement to three remarkable moms.

Family Support Specialists honored each mother’s journey with personal reflections and words of encouragement, acknowledging family milestones and the positive development of their babies. Over the course of the three-year program, support specialists serve expectant and new parents in under-resourced communities by visiting their homes and working with them to cultivate and strengthen parent-child relationships, promote healthy childhood growth and development, and enhance family functioning.

The Milestones luncheon is a time to reflect on the transformative impact of family-centered support.

In a tear-filled embrace with her support specialist, program graduate Maylin shared, “Laura has been a friend. She listened to me in the worst moments of my life. It’s a relationship I don’t even have with my own mother.” Speaking about her daughter Camila, she added, “Before, I didn’t know what she needed, and I feel I understand her more now.”

Since 2021, Wellroot’s home visitation program has supported mothers and babies in North Georgia through regular visits from caring Family Support Specialists. So far, 197 mothers and their children have received steady, compassionate care, and 11 mothers have graduated with the tools to keep building strong, healthy families. What began in Hall, Gwinnett, Forsyth, Dawson, and Lumpkin counties has now expanded to DeKalb and Fulton through our new Healthy Families Metro Atlanta™ division.

At the celebration, Allison Ashe expressed heartfelt gratitude to the financial supporters and partners who joined us for the event, including the Liz Blake Giving Fund and the Zeist Foundation. She also recognized the General Federation of Women’s Clubs Northwest District for their generous gift of 56 beautifully crafted diaper cakes, and the dedicated quilters from United Methodist churches who hand-stitched blankets with care and love.

Held at Duluth First United Methodist Church, the luncheon was filled with joy and welcomed the faithful support of Bishop Robin Dease of the North Georgia Conference of The United Methodist Church.
