Rooted and Established in Love

Like all organizations that have navigated over a century of change, your United Methodist Children’s Home has long embraced, and effectively responded to changes in the child welfare field through many creative innovations to our ministry. These innovations have not been driven or shaped by whim—they have been driven and shaped by a steadfast focus on our mission to serve children, young adults and families in need.

As we look toward our future, we are proud to introduce a new name that reflects both our tremendous growth and our unlimited potential, while preserving our deep foundations in The United Methodist Church. This new name, Wellroot Family Services, was borne out of the same steadfast focus on our mission, and was the result of an intense process of research and planning. To be well-rooted is to be firmly planted, to feel stable, and to feel taken care of and secure. To be well-rooted is to have the support and love you need to become the person God intends for you to become.

Now, as Wellroot Family Services, The United Methodist Children’s Home continues to grow with a name that embodies our commitment to the children, young adults and families we serve together as an agency of the North Georgia Conference—a commitment that has not wavered since the day we opened our doors.

How did you come up with Wellroot? What does the new name mean?

Why did you change your name?

Like other organizations that have been around for more than a century, we have gone through many changes. As our services and the needs of our clients evolve, we want our name to represent all that we are and all that we offer. As we looked toward our future in 2019 and beyond, we realized that our name and identity could better reflect our services, capabilities and potential for growth.

When will this change take effect?

Over the coming months, we will be slowly rolling out our new name. View the timeline below for more information on how and when our new name will be communicated.

Are you still affiliated with The United Methodist Church?

Yes. Always, yes. With deep roots in The United Methodist Church, Wellroot Family Services will continue to work with our current United Methodist partners.

Over the past 147 years, The Children’s Home has expanded its services to reach more children through our Foster Care, Transitional and Independent Living, and Family Housing Programs. This name change will allow us to expand those services even further, within the United Methodist community and beyond.

Are your services for families and children in Georgia changing?

No. Our services for families and children in Georgia will remain the same. As the needs of families and children change, we may expand our services but Wellroot Family Services will always dedicate itself to helping people reach their God-given potential through the encouragement and love of a healthy home.

Has your mission changed?

No. The United Methodist Children’s Home continues to grow as Wellroot Family Services and our mission remains the same: to offer more children, young adults and families the benefits of a healthy, stable and safe home.

Will my donations continue to impact foster families and children in Georgia?

Yes. When you contribute to the Wellroot Family Services mission, you can be sure that 100% of your donation is spent in service of young people and families throughout Georgia who need critical care, expert support or the everyday basics that make a house a home. If you currently give through a United Methodist Church, your gifts will continue to support us.
